Paintings by Lori Austill
"I became enraptured with painting. I discovered the power of color."
During her last year of art school, Lori Austill was told by her instructors that she liked paint too much. In her effort to fuse texture with form, she would gob paint in clumps on canvas. Only in her last month did she discover the union of paint and plaster.
In this new medium, Austill found her long-sought fusion between color and texture. The brilliance, intensity, hue and tones of paint could now be translated into a medium familiar to her since the ceramic-making days of early childhood. Now a professional visual artist, Austill trusts that discovery and those media as the foundation beneath all her work.
