![]() Familiar and disconcerting, provocative and paradoxical Ben Goldman invents a world of juxtapositions in his dream-like narratives. Pulling ideas from such varied sources as Japanese ukiyo-e prints and newspapers, nature calendars and crime photos, he provides the viewer with a humorous look at contemporary visual bombardment. The paintings develop from preliminary sketches that are transferred to tracing paper. Ideas are moved to canvas using a grid system. The finished paintings intentionally question postmodern theories.
