Paintings by Allan Stephenson
"I apply myself to a traditional subject, the landscape, and a traditional approach to rendering what it is I see."
For as long as he can remember, Allan Stephenson has loved to travel. As he journeys from place to place, he is continually fascinated by the landscape with all of its variation and detail.
Preferring to work in pastel because of its "hands-on" quality, Stephenson sculpts and blends pigments to create his pastoral visages. An admitted traditionalist, he is not trying to break new ground. His goals focus on revealing the poeticism of trees, the beauty that man and nature may form in cooperation, and the serendipity that can result from fortuitous accidents upon the surface of his perfected landscapes.
