ON THE WAY by Stanley Tomshinsky
This is a retrospective look at the works from 1961 to 1999. Sixty paintings, sculptures, and computer-drawn images that illustrate energy in movement and insights into symbolism, ranging in manner from conceptual to analogical.
Stanley Tomshinsky was born in New York City on October 29th,1935. After graduating New York University in l959, he left for Europe. After five years in Paris and various travels, he settled in Milan.
Over the years, his research encompassed: linear structures realized in three-dimensional and graphic mediums; paintings subjectively conceptualizing movements of energy, metaphysical symbolism, and personal totemism; the gradual transition from structural to pictorial, from conceptual to analogical. The paintings of the 1980's and 1990's are dream-like landscapes and figures. I hope you enjoy the show!
